Beside — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 30 September 2026
Beside is an app for two people: shared plans and savings goals, tasks, a calendar, wishlists, store loyalty cards, questions to answer together, memories with photos, a shared to-do-together list, letters that open on a date, and a quick way to tell each other how the day is going. This policy explains what the app stores, where, and how to delete it.
Who is responsible: Nuqta Technologies (developer account of Oybek Ikromov), Uzbekistan. Contact: oybek.ikramov.official@gmail.com.
The short version
- What you put into Beside is visible to you and the one partner you invite — nobody else.
- No ads and no advertising identifiers. Your data is never sold and never used to build an advertising profile.
- The app sends anonymous usage statistics (which screens and features get used — never what you wrote) and anonymous crash reports (what went wrong in the code when the app breaks). You can switch both off with one switch in Settings → About.
- The app works offline; your data lives on your phone first and is synced to our server so your partner's phone (and your next phone) can get it.
- You can delete your account and its server data — photos included — from inside the app at any time.
What we store
| Data | Why | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Name you enter, optional birthday, optional profile photo | Shown to your partner; birthday reminders | Your device and our server |
| "About me" — anything you choose to fill in: clothing, shoe and ring size, favourite flowers, drinks and food, allergies, a note | So your partner can get a gift right; shown only to your partner | Your device and our server |
| Content you create: plans, contributions and expenses, tasks, events and shift templates, important dates, wishlist items, loyalty card numbers, the things-to-do-together list | The purpose of the app; shared with your partner | Your device and our server |
| Memories: title, date, note and the photos you add; the couple's cover photo | Shared with your partner. Photos are shrunk on your phone before upload, which also removes location and camera metadata (EXIF) | Your device and our server (private file storage) |
| Answers to questions, guesses, reactions and comments; your own questions | Shown to your partner only after both of you have answered — enforced on the server, not only in the UI | Your device and our server |
| Mood check-ins, short notes and "thinking of you" nudges | Shown to your partner | Your device and our server |
| Time capsules (letters that open on a date) | The text stays unreadable to the recipient until the opening date — enforced on the server | Your device and our server |
| Wishlist reservations ("I'll get this") | Kept secret from the wish's owner — enforced on the server | Our server |
| Account identifier; the email of your Apple ID or Google account if you choose to back up your account (Apple may give us a private relay address instead of your real one) | To sign you in and let you restore your space on a new phone | Our server (authentication) |
| Device push token, UI language | To deliver notifications about your partner's activity, in your language | Our server |
| Invite codes | Pairing two accounts; single-use, expire after 7 days | Our server |
| App settings (theme, language, notification switch) | Remember your choices | Your device only |
We do not collect your location, contacts or advertising ID. We never read your photo library: the system photo picker hands the app only the pictures you choose.
Anonymous usage statistics
To learn which parts of Beside are useful and which are not, the app reports usage statistics through Google Analytics for Firebase:
- What is sent: the name of the screen that was opened (for example
homeorplans), that a feature was used (for example "a task was created", "photos were added" and how many), whether a partner has joined, and technical basics — app version, Android/iOS version, UI language, country. - What is never sent: anything you typed, photographed or chose — no titles, amounts, answers, notes, names, e-mail addresses or record identifiers. Your account is not attached to the statistics.
- Identifiers: a random app-instance ID created by the Firebase SDK. The advertising ID and the Android ID are not collected, advertising features and ad personalisation are switched off, and precise location/device data collection is disabled in our Analytics settings.
- Retention: 14 months, then Google deletes it.
- Your choice: Settings → About → Anonymous statistics & crash reports. Off means the SDK stops collecting on that device at once.
Crash reports
When the app crashes or an internal operation fails, a report is sent through Sentry so we can find and fix the bug:
- What is sent: the technical error and where in the code it happened (a stack trace), app version, Android/iOS version and device model.
- What is never sent: anything you typed or photographed, your name, e-mail address or account identifier. No screenshots.
- Your choice: the same switch — Settings → About → Anonymous statistics & crash reports. Off means nothing is reported from that device.
Camera. Used for two things, both started by you: scanning a loyalty card's barcode (the image is processed on the device and never stored or uploaded) and taking a profile or cover photo.
Sensitive topics. One optional question pack is about closeness. It stays locked until both partners choose to open it, and its answers are protected the same way as all others.
Link previews
When you paste a product link into a wishlist, the link is sent to our server, which fetches the page to read its title, price and picture. Some shops block servers; in that case the app fetches the page directly from your phone, so that shop sees your IP address just as if you had opened the link in a browser.
Notifications
- Reminders (events, birthdays, anniversaries, a memory's anniversary, a capsule's opening day) are scheduled on your device and work offline. Nothing is sent anywhere.
- Push notifications (your partner completed a task, added savings, joined the space, answered a question, shared a mood, sealed a capsule for you) are sent through Google's Firebase Cloud Messaging. Google receives the device token and the notification text in order to deliver it. The text can contain a task's or plan's title, a capsule's title and the short note you attach to a mood; it never contains an answer to a question or the letter inside a capsule.
- Turning notifications off in Settings removes your device token from our server.
Exporting your data
Memories → Export packs all your memories — full-size photos and notes — into one zip file that you can save or share wherever you like. The file is created on your device; we do not receive it.
Service providers
| Provider | Role |
|---|---|
| Supabase (ap-northeast-1, Tokyo) | Database, authentication, file storage, server functions |
| Google Firebase Cloud Messaging | Delivering push notifications |
| Sign in with Apple | Only if you choose to back up / restore with your Apple ID (iOS) |
| Google Sign-In | Only if you choose to back up / restore with Google |
| Sentry (Functional Software, Inc.) | Receiving anonymous crash reports |
They process data on our behalf and only for these purposes.
Sharing
We do not sell or rent your data and do not share it with advertisers. Your content is shared with exactly one other person: the partner who joined your space with your invite code. We may disclose data if required by law.
Leaving a space, deleting your account
- Leave shared space (Settings): what the two of you shared stays with your partner; your own wishlist, your secret reservations, your answers, mood check-ins and the capsules involving you are removed; your device starts over with an empty space.
- Delete account (Settings, two taps): your profile and profile photo, sign-in, device tokens and — if you were not paired — your whole space with its photos are erased from our server, and all app data and photo files are removed from the device. If you were paired, shared records stay with your partner, without your name attached. Files are removed by an automatic clean-up job that runs right after the deletion.
- Uninstalling the app removes the data on the device, but not the server copy — delete the account first if you want both gone.
- Without the app: write to oybek.ikramov.official@gmail.com from the Apple ID or Google account linked to your Beside account (or with your invite/space details) and we will delete the account within 30 days. This page is also our account-deletion page for Google Play: the steps above are everything needed.
- Backups kept by our hosting provider expire within 7 days.
Security
Data travels over HTTPS. Server-side access rules (row level security) restrict every record and every photo to the members of its space. Anonymous accounts (before you link Apple or Google) exist only on the device that created them: if that device is lost or the app is reinstalled, the account cannot be recovered — back your account up in Settings to avoid that.
Children
Beside is made for adults in a relationship. It is not directed at anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
We will update this page when the app's data practices change (for example when paid plans or video ship) and note the date at the top.
